The Village Vets - Buckhead is located at 3404 Northside Parkway, just across the street from the popular OK Cafe. Dr. Amy Mathews heads the Buckhead team. As with our other practices, we offer top quality medical care for owned pets; and also increase our commitment to offering services for rescue groups/pets.

Dr. Amy Mathews
Since 2011
Dr. Amy Mathews grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee, and graduated from the University of Tennessee's Veterinary School in 1986. Dr. Mathews has been practicing veterinary medicine in the Buckhead area since 1989.
She and her husband Clay live outside of Atlanta with Mr. B, a small mixed breed dog adopted from Atlanta Pet Rescue, and an African Grey Parrot named Mac.
Dr. Mathews says she loves living in the country, bike riding, being outside with her dogs and reading.

Dr. Jessica Jenkins
Since 2013
Dr. Jenkins is a Georgia native, growing up in a small town just south of Savannah. She received her undergraduate degree at Armstrong Atlantic State University, where she received a bachelor degree in Biology. Following its completion, she went on to receive her DVM at the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009.
Prior to joining The Village Vets in 2013, Dr. Jenkins worked for a small animal practice in Myrtle Beach. She holds a special interest in dentistry and internal medicine.
Dr. Jenkins currently resides in Smyrna, where she lives with Chocolate Chip, a pug, and a three-legged cat, named Horatio. In her spare time, Dr. Jenkins enjoys nature walks, hiking, creating new recipes, and watching sports.

Dr. Alissa Stephens
Since 2011
Dr. Alissa Stephens grew up in East Brunswick, New Jersey. She attended Rutgers University where she received a bachelor’s degree in biology. Following graduation in 2008, Dr. Stephens moved to Atlanta to complete an internship at Zoo Atlanta during which time she also worked as a veterinary assistant. She began vet school in 2011 at University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. During her four years there she worked as a veterinary assistant at TVV Buckhead during summer and Thanksgiving/Christmas breaks. Dr. Stephens received her doctorate in veterinary medicine in 2015. Her special interest includes general surgery.
Dr. Stephens and her husband, Chris, got married about the same time she was graduating vet school – May 2015. They live in Canton with their five rescue dogs: Stitch, Maggie, Virginia, Madison, and Captain Jack. In her spare time, her hobbies are food and traveling.

Dr. Vrinda Nargund
Since 2014
Dr. Nargund grew up in Meadville, Pennsylvania. She completed a 7-year joint undergraduate and veterinary medicine program at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Tufts University. She also received her Master’s degree in Public Health during vet school. Upon graduation in 2003, she moved to Atlanta to do a fellowship at the CDC in the Foodborne Diseases division. She has practiced veterinary medicine since 2004.
Her special interests in veterinary medicine are nutrition, gastroenterology, and geriatrics. Her interests outside of work are cooking and traveling. Dr. Nargund and her husband, Ratish, live in Alpharetta with their two sons and mixed breed dog named Duke Anderson.

Dr. Laura Hooper
Since 2012
Dr. Laura Hooper was born and raised in Lexington, SC. After graduating from high school in 1998, she completed her undergraduate degree in animal and veterinary sciences at Clemson University. She then attended Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2007. Following veterinary school she completed a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Auburn University. She has been practicing in the Chamblee-Dunwoody area since 2008. Dr. Hooper and her husband Matt, their three children (2 girls and a boy), a labrador retriever Dixie Belle, miniature pinscher Lily, and Otis the cat reside in Smyrna. Her interests include running, softball, and water sports.
